Fired Earth Pottery opened in Appleton
in October, 1997. Rick McKinney is the potter, as well as the
owner of the studio and gallery. Rick specializes in high-fired
functional pottery. All the pottery is designed for use in the
home. It is lead-free, and microwave and dishwasher safe. Both
the fired clay, and the glazes, are waterproof. Rick welcomes
visitors to the pottery and gallery, but please call ahead to
make sure he is there.
Fired Earth has an Annual
Open House which this year is on December 13th and 14th (Sat & Sun.) from Noon to 5 pm.
The open house features the stoneware and porcelain work of
Rick McKinney as well as the work of three other artists. Beth Wenger Johnstone will be featuring her unique and beautiful glass lampwork and silver jewelry, and fabric artist Judy Treichel will be introducing her unique wool designs. Jeff Zdrale will also have some paintings for sale. For details, please check the 'Events' page of the website.
Pottery
classes are offered at Fired Earth. The classes are
taught right in the studio, so students have full access to
the facilities of a professional pottery studio. Sessions
begin in early September, early January, and early March.
For more information, please check the section of the website
on classes, or call the pottery.
